Pronouns in Kuanua



Pronouns in Kuanua are listed here with some examples.


iau  (me)

u (you)   u is pronounced oo

ia (him,her,it) Used instead of the name of the person when speaking of the person..

i (he,she,it) i is pronounced ee. When a verb immediately follows i  is used. 
Example, ToRuga i bura. ToRuga fell.
    
dor (we, us) Two people., You and me. Example, Dor ra wana. We are going.

dir (them) Two people. Two of them. Example, Dir ra wana. They are going.

dat (we,us) More than two people.

diat (them) More than two people. Used when speaking of other people.

awat (you) plural. Many  Used when speaking of other people.

awet (we, us) plural. Many. Used when speaking of self with others.

amir (we, us) The two of us.

amur (you) The two of you.

amital (we, us) Three   The three of us.

According to Tolai lore it is impolite and improper to call or make reference to an in-law by name. The  plural pronouns are used in place of the name of the in-law.
